Legislation banning discrimination in places of public amusement is adopted.

(June) Sponsored by Re. Julius Chappelle, passed by the Massachusetts legislature, and signed by Gov. George Robinson, the new punishes anyone who “makes any distinction, discrimination, or restriction on account of color or race” with a fine of 4100.
